This base is not current but with current sticker. All of these older plates are on busses owned by legitimate bus companies. The continued use of a few older yellow-on-blue bus plates remains somewhat of a mystery. My best guess on the continued use of the old base is the fact that when PA did re-plate, they did it on a number-for-number basis. So the new plates had the same number as the old plates. It is likely that some bus owners just left the old plates in place since the number didn't change. Those numbers at the time were within the range of BA-10000 and BA-47999. The replacements, while sporting the same number, were minus the dash separator, BA10000 and BA47999. Beginning at BA-48000 the dashes were again reinstated.
FORMAT 1: BA10000 to BA47999 without the dash separator. When PA re-plated in 2000, all bus plates were reissued on a plate-for-plate basis. This included anything between BA-10000 to BA-47999. The replacement plates in this series on the www base did not use the dash separator. Low number spotted BA23115. FORMAT 2: BA-48000 to BA-59999 have dash separators
FORMAT 3: BA-60000 to current high on visitPA base, keystone separator. |
