All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV)
All-Terrain Vehicle plates are issued by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). There are two classes of ATV plates: Class 1 and Class 2. Class 1 is a motorized off-highway vehicle, which travels on three or more inflatable tires and has a maximum width of 50 inches and a maximum dry weight of 1000 pounds. The letters X, Y and Z are skipped in the serial because they are used exclusively in the ATV-2 serial. Class 2 ATV is a motorized off-highway vehicle, which travels on three or more inflatable tires and has a width which exceeds 50 inches or a dry weight which exceeds 1000 pounds.
