Bus
Before 1924 buses were registered as commercial vehicles. In 1924 Omnibus plates were issued with an "O" prefix. Then in 1926 a separate category of "H" prefix bus plates were issued. See above. From 1926 to 1929 those vehicles that were required to have a certificate of convenience were designated by an "O" prefix. In 1929 a new law was passed requiring all buses to have this certificate and thereby ending the "H" prefix plate. Following this all common carrier and for hire buses used the "O" prefix until 1968 when the "BA" prefix came into use.
